Not much happened today. Mostly spent the day in the airplane. I did start and finish an entire book on one day. I read The Alchemist which was a phenomenal book. Highly recommend it. The Alchemist is a book about personal journey. It is a short read packed with quotes like “If you start out by promising what you don’t even have yet, you’ll lose your desire to work toward getting it." The book ended fantastically by saying, “There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.”
We landed in Germany for a quick refuel. Since we had our weapons we had to leave people on the plane. So I volunteered while the rest of soldiers went into the small airport terminal. I had a quick chat with this Romanian guy. He worked for the airport food service. After a couple of hours in Germany we were on the way to the Middle East.
The airplane has a little map that shows the flight path history and current location. It was cool looking at it fly over Turkey and entering into the Middle East. I can now say I've been on the Asian continent. Most powerful was to know of the war, destruction, and suffering that was happening below me.
